If you want a Lamborghini and you have more than one passenger, the Urus is the only answer: it is the one Lamborghini with a back seat. Four adults travel in comfort, the boot takes four bags, and the 641 hp twin-turbo V8 still makes it one of the quickest cars of any shape in our fleet.

It also removes most of the worries that come with a supercar. It is as tall as a normal SUV, so car-park ramps, speed humps and hotel driveways need no special care, and you can see out of it. Adaptive air suspension keeps it composed on the motorway and lifts it for steep entrances.

This is the standard Urus, without the Pearl Capsule paint. Mechanically it is the same car as our two Capsule versions, so book it if the colour is not what matters to you.

Can the Lamborghini Urus work as a family car for a week?

It is the only Lamborghini where that question makes sense, and the answer is yes. Five seats, five doors, four bags in the boot, adaptive air suspension and heated and ventilated front seats. Children fit in the back without complaint; the panoramic sunroof helps.

What does the ANIMA switch on the Urus do?

ANIMA is the drive selector on the centre console. Strada is the everyday setting for Dubai traffic; Sport makes the shifts quicker and the exhaust louder; Corsa is the firmest. The further modes are for sand and gravel, which a rental cannot be taken on, so you will live in the first two.

What is the fuel bill like on the Urus?

High. It is a twin-turbo V8 pushing a heavy SUV, and it wants Super 98. A tank will cover a few days of Dubai driving; return it as full as you found it and no fuel is charged.
