Jumeirah, the district, is the long strip of villas between the beach and Al Wasl Road, running from Jumeirah 1 near La Mer down through Jumeirah 2 and 3 to Umm Suqeim and the Burj Al Arab. It is easy to confuse with places that share the name, Palm Jumeirah, JBR and JLT, which are all further along the coast and are covered on their own pages.
Most addresses here are private villas with a driveway, so the driver can deliver to the gate and park the car inside. Along Jumeirah Beach Road there are also the beach hotels: Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Burj Al Arab at Umm Suqeim, and the Four Seasons near Jumeirah 2. At those, we meet you under the hotel canopy.
Jumeirah Beach Road is slower than it looks, with traffic lights and turns into the side streets. For anything further than the next beach, cut inland to Al Wasl Road or Sheikh Zayed Road.
