Renting a car in Dubai is straightforward once you know what to bring. The paperwork is light, most companies deliver the car to you, and you can be on the road the same day. Here is what you need to rent a car in Dubai, whether you are visiting on a tourist visa or living here as a resident.

Documents you need

If you are a tourist or visitor

Bring your passport and your UAE entry stamp or visa, your driving licence from home, and an International Driving Permit (IDP). The IDP is a translation of your licence, and most rental companies ask for it alongside the original. Drivers from some countries, including GCC states, can often use their national licence directly on a visit, but carrying an IDP avoids any question at handover.

If you are a UAE resident

Residents need an Emirates ID and a valid UAE driving licence. A visit visa in your passport does not count once you hold residency, so use your Emirates ID and UAE licence. If your UAE licence is new, check the age and experience note below.

Minimum age and licence experience

The standard minimum age is 21 for most cars. Premium models, sports cars and larger SUVs usually start at 25, and some companies ask that you have held your licence for at least a year. If you are under 25 and want a sports car or a luxury car, message us first and we will tell you what is available for your age.

Do you need a deposit or a credit card?

Many Dubai rental companies place a deposit on your card, often AED 1,000 to 5,000, and hold it for the whole rental. Some also want a credit card in the driver's name for Salik tolls and any fines. At NCK there is no deposit and no card hold on any car, so nothing is frozen on your account while you drive.

How long can you rent for?

You can rent by the day, the week or the month, and the daily rate drops the longer you book. A weekly rental costs less per day than booking day by day, and a monthly rental is cheaper still for a long stay or a new-resident gap. If you are not sure how long you need the car, start with a week and extend.

Salik, fuel and fines

Dubai uses an automatic toll system called Salik. Tolls are charged as you pass the gates and settled through your rental. You return the car with the fuel level you received, and any traffic fines during the rental are passed on at the official amount. Ask for these details when you book so there are no surprises.

Getting the car

You do not need to visit an office. Tell us the car and dates on WhatsApp, send photos of your documents, and we deliver the car to your hotel, home or office anywhere in Dubai for free. Arriving by air? We can meet you at Dubai International Airport so you drive straight out.

Quick checklist

  • Tourists: passport, UAE entry or visa, home-country licence, and an International Driving Permit
  • Residents: Emirates ID and a valid UAE driving licence
  • Minimum age 21, or 25 for premium, sports and large SUVs
  • No deposit and no card hold at NCK
  • Free delivery and collection across Dubai

That is everything you need. Browse the full fleet or check the price list, then message us on WhatsApp with your dates. We confirm the car, deliver it to you, and you can be driving the same day.
